Hector Rondón Lovera (1933-1984) ha sido hasta ahora el único venezolano ganador del premio Pulitzer gracias a las fotos que tomo del Porteñazo, rebelón militar que ocurrió en Venezuela en 1962.
La foto que le valió el premio le dio la vuelta al mundo, fue la del capellán Luis María Padilla cuando este intentaba poner a resguardo al subteniente Luis Antonio Rivera Sanoja; perteneciente a las fuerzas leales al gobierno.
Hector Rondón Lovera is the only Venezuelan Pulitzer prize winner to date thanks to his photographs of the Porteñazo, a military rebellion which occurred in Venezuela in 1962.
The photograph that earned the prize was seen around the world, and showed Luis María Padilla, an army chaplain, trying to give refuge to Lieutenant Luis Antonio Rivera Sanoja, a member of the military forces loyal to the government.
